Cloud Linux & MariaDB installed to improve server performance

We wanted to let everyone know that we now run Cloud Linux & MariaDB. Overall the server stability will be higher with Cloud Linux which will make your sites load faster and have greater security against hackers. On the other hand if your site gets “too busy” or if it is “not efficient” your account can now reach a resource limit which will end up slowing down your site or causing errors if those limits are reached.

These are the default limits for all accounts and what happens when your account reaches that limit:

  • CPU Limit: 150%  – Will cause account to load slower if it reaches this limit.
  • Memory Limit: 3 GB – Will cause account to load slower if it reaches this limit.
  • EP Limit: 40 – Will cause a Error 508 Limit Reached and the page will not load for that second, if the user retries the site will likely load.
  • Processes Limit: 100 – Will cause a Error 508 Limit Reached and the page will not load for that second, if the user retries the site will likely load.
  • I/O Limit: 2 MB/Sec – Will cause account to load slower if it reaches this limit.
  • IOPS: 1500 – Will cause account to load slower if it reaches this limit.
  • MySQL IO: 1.86G/s – Will cause additional MySQL queries to load inside your account which will have the resource limits listed above.

If your account is reaching these limits then you will want to optimize your site to load faster by removing un-necessary plugins and improving your over-all load time. Optimizing your images can also dramatically reduce your accounts usage.

If you are unable to reduce your sites usage but still want it to load without issues then you will need to upgrade your account to include more resources.

We may also adjust the default resource limits based on how many accounts are effected by them, so the current values may not be final.

PS- If you are curious if your account has hit these limits then contact us and we can let you know. We plan to start sending emails out every 24 hours to accounts going over their usage.
